She served as a judge of CAMPTA (Capital Area Music Teachers Associates) and teaches piano at local university. Her piano lesson has been very popular. Her students have achieved outstanding record in studying piano. Ms. Oh has also performed in U.S. and overseas. Ms. Oh published a book regarding piano teaching.  When evaluating her chance of NIW, Attorney Feng believed that her rich experience as piano teacher could support her in EB-2 NIW petition if the case is well prepared.

Ms. Oh has been an outstanding pianist and piano teacher. She plans to continue her teaching in the rest of her life. In addition, the contributions in teaching side are stronger than performing side. Attorney Feng suggested her preparing this NIW as an outstanding piano teacher.  NIW applicants in music are quite different to applicants in basic science research as they don’t have publications and citations. Instead, musicians have impressive record on performance, awards, media reports and teaching contributions. Having helped many musicians in NIW applications, Attorney Feng know exactly how to present a strong case for Ms. Oh.  Besides Ms. Oh’s own performances, Attorney Feng also included her students’ performances, awards, and parents’ feedbacks on her piano lessons to prove Ms. Oh’s influences on music education in U.S.

By fully discussing the impacts of Ms. Oh’s past and continued work in the field, Attorney Feng successfully emphasized her teaching experience and contributions in her petition.

Within seven months after the case was filed, the petition was approved by USCIS. Compare to average 12 months processing time for NIW, the success of this case is very impressive. Although this is not typical of all cases, it demonstrates that even weak cases can have an excellent chance of approval with the help of a highly skilled attorney. As long as you can persuasively prove that you meet NIW requirements, you have a chance to succeed. In Ms. Oh’s case, she has benefited from the crafting of strong recommendation and petition letters, and from this sound legal advice.
